Ambient Spítt

about

I wrote this track on a frosty Sunday afternoon in December 2010. I used Propellerhead Reason, ARTURIA CS-80 and Arturia Moog Modular (which I ran on a different computer) and Korg Kaoss Pad (thank you Jónas - I ran the whole track through it and back to the computer). The Roland TR-808 samples (purchased from Goldbaby) were all loaded up in Redrum, a Reason drum machine with a built in pattern sequencer, and I made some acid-like sound with the Subtraktor which was connected to the Matrix sequencer. Then I added some ambient heavy pad sounds (made in Thor), which I played on my midi keyboard, and put a 909 bass drum under it all, to create a sensible rhythm. Later I played the bass, from the Mood Modular, and also the strange avant-garde organ sound (I don't remember where I found that sound). Some jungle loops, FX sounds and some other juicy stuff were added as well, but somehow in couple of hours I finished the track. To me, this is the best. When making music comes like drinking water. It's like you are in a timeless zone and no one can stop you. Giving a kiss to the Goddess of music, I always call it. I remember I had to work at James Bönd - Myndbandaleiga, a local video store in Reykjavík, later that night and I couldn't stop thinking about this track when I was at work (man that hot dog tasted good). This was a good Sunday - a journey of bliss.

The title of the track basically means "Ambient Amphetamine" and the people who have partied too hard and not slept for days know what it feels when you can't be at rest, although you don't have any energy left in your body. So I wrote this track for those people who are at that state of mind. This is there ambient.

My best friend Smurfen (aka skurken) did a wonderful job in mixing the track and for that I will be forever grateful. Þossi, a radio legend here in Iceland, played this track on his show Streymi, on the national radio Rás 2, and said it was a good techno track. So, maybe it is. I do love it though and am really proud of it.
