Dynjandi

about

This track was written two days before the Hyphae concert at Bakkus in June '11. "The first Hyphae event will bring you Iceland’s finest electronica live from Reykjavík. The event will be live-streamed directly to TodaysArt Session #2 at the Korzo theater in The Hague." Shout goes out to skurken, Tonik, Beatmakin Troopa, Orang Volante, Plat, Steve Sampling and Murya. It was a brilliant night.
It was produced in Propellerheads Reason from scratch. I used Dr. Rex for the drum loops and the Kontrabass, the NN-19 for strings and the NN-XT sampler for the soul of the song - pad, chords and such. When I was rendering the track I kept staring at my big framed picture of Dynjandi (also known as Fjallfoss), which is a set of waterfalls located in Westfjords of Iceland (near where I grew up). It's one of the most breathtaking sceneries at the Westfjords and I imagined myself being there at a festival, like in the movie Börn náttúrunnar (Children of Nature), but there would be drum and bass music playing instead (so here comes the title, Brian Eno). Many people have praised this track, especially old "jungle heads", and that makes me feel good - since that was the plan after all; to have this nostalgic feeling in a 2012 release. Both Smurfen and Bix did a great job in taking care of my track, so it sounds really good. Thankful.
