Panda Walk With Me

This track was never going to be on the album. I already had written another track which had a sample from Jófríði Ákadóttur ( Samaris) and I had been playing that track live for months. But deep down I had made a strange releationship with 'Panda Walk With Me'. Something dope. So in the end I decided to put it on the album and leave the Samaris fuelled track on my hard drive instead. The demo was written in Stykkishólmur when my girlfriend, at the time, was sleeping (we were watching Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell, so I was really inspired). I found the sample "My Name is Roger" in a folder from my friend Steini Einarsson, who is a brilliant composer. It's from a song of his and I thought he wouldn't mind I would use it. I still haven't told him I used his sample (I haven't seen him in two months), but if this song ever gets sold to an advertisement or a movie - he would get royalties, so I guess it would just have to be a nice surprise (or not, sorry my friend). I build a track around this sample that night and made it into a journey of narcotic mind searching. All made in Ableton Live. The drum patters were kinda off beat, but later in the mixing stage Smurfen added a bass drum on top which actually made a solid rhythm, so in a way the song is very danceable. Today if I play a track from my album, I would put this on. I love the emotional synth atmosphere in the background.
The title of the track comes from my friendship with Steini Einarsson. We used to talk about music and movies for ever and he introduced me to my favorite Tv show Twin Peaks. When I watched both series and the movie, it changed my life. I had never ever seen stuff like that before. It's brilliant and I thank him for showing me this world (and thank you David Lynch and Mark Frost). Steini's album Human Comfort has a picture of Panda on the cover, and Steini sometimes is painted like a Panda on stage, so instead of Fire Walk With Me - it's Panda.

Absolutely gorgeous album. You can hear the love in every track coming through loud & clear. Diverse in range & tempo, but extremely cohesive in overall sound. Excellent work!
